Domestic Electrical Work – Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions apply to all domestic electrical work carried out by M N Security Systems Ltd t/a M N Electrical Services, Redwood, Close, Southgate N14 6HW ("we", "us", or "the Contractor") for the homeowner ("you" or "the Customer")
1. Acceptance of terms
By accepting our quotation, making any payment, or instructing us to proceed with the electrical work, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and condition.
2. Quotations and Prices
Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date issued unless stated otherwise in writing. Prices are based on the information available at the time of quotation. If additional, unforeseen, or remedial work is required, this will be discussed and agreed with you before proceeding and may incur additional charges.
3. Scope of Work
Any variations or additional work requested after commencement may affect the final price and completion time.
4. Deposit & Payment Terms
A 50% upfront deposit is required upon acceptance of the quote. This deposit facilitates in the first instance, initial labour, cost and consumables only. The remaining balance is due upon completion of the works or within 7 days of the final invoice date.
Please note: We reserve the right to withhold all certification, test results, and Part P notifications until the final balance has been settled in full.
5. Materials
All materials supplied remain our property until paid for in full. Materials supplied will comply with current UK standards unless otherwise agreed in writing.
6. Access and Customer Responsibilities You agree to:
Provide safe, clear, and uninterrupted access to the property during agreed working hours. Inform us in advance of any known hazards, including asbestos, unsafe structures, or previous electrical issues. Ensure pets, children, and occupants do not interfere with the work.
7. Standards and Certification
All work will be carried out in accordance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and all relevant UK legislation. Where applicable, you will be issued with an Electrical Installation Certificate or Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate. Part P Building Regulations notifications will be made where required.
8. Existing Electrical Installations
We are not responsible for faults, defects, or non-compliance in existing wiring or equipment that is not included in the agreed work. If unsafe or non-compliant conditions are discovered, we may suspend work and will advise you of any necessary remedial action. Completion dates provided are estimates only. We are not responsible for delays caused by factors beyond our reasonable control, including hidden faults, supply issues, adverse weather, illness, or access restrictions.
9. Guarantee
Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of completion. This guarantee does not cover faults caused by misuse, accidental damage, normal wear and tear, or work altered or repaired by others.
10. Limitation of Liability
Our liability is limited to the value of the work carried out, we shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or economic losses. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
11. Cancellation and Consumer Rights
You may cancel the work by providing reasonable notice. Any work completed, time spent, or materials ordered prior to cancellation will be chargeable. Where applicable, your statutory cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts, a 14 day cooling off period applies from the date of acceptance (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 apply.
12. Making Good and Waste
We will remove waste generated by our work unless otherwise agreed in writing. Making good to decorations (plastering, painting, tiling, redecorating) is not included unless specifically stated in the quotation.
13. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for delays or failure to perform our obligations due to events beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, illness, supply shortages, or acts of third parties.
14. Un Completion of Work
If we are unable to complete the agreed work due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not be held liable for un completion, nor do we accept liability for works carried out by others, we do not agree to accept any charges incurred to complete the work if we are unable to complete the contracted works and this includes but is not limited to
Unsafe or non-compliant existing installations
Concealed defects
Delays in material delivery from client/customer
Restricted or unsafe access
Asbestos or other hazardous materials
Staff illness
Lack of utilities (electricity, water, etc)
Incorrect, incomplete, or undisclosed information provided prior to commencement
Where work cannot be completed you will be notified for our reasons, you will only be charged for work already carried out, time spent on site, and any materials purchased or consumables ordered or installed.
15. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
These terms and conditions may be reviewed at our discretion.
